OUR STORY
Our journey in the cleaning industry began with family. My mother has worked in this field for over 20 years, from hotels to private house cleaning services. After building her own client base, she entrusted me with the opportunity to take over and turn it into a formal business.
In my free time, I often accompanied my mother to estimates and cleaning jobs, where I saw firsthand the challenges in the industry. One of my biggest concerns was the overuse of harsh chemicals—often used due to lack of awareness, the misconception that they save money, and the push for faster cleaning. But these chemicals pose serious risks— Chemicals including Chlorine, bleach and ammonia cleaning products are inhaled daily, absorbed through our skin, and even ingested when used on kitchen appliances and dishes. The only way to combat this is to exclusively use non-toxic and eco friendly home cleaning products.
Health Concerns in the Cleaning Industry
I have personally spoken with many cleaners in our community, including my mother, who now suffer from serious health issues due to chemical exposure. From asthma caused by inhaling oven cleaning products to infertility, allergies, rashes, and flare-ups from contact with harsh chemicals, these long-term effects are often overlooked.
I knew I couldn’t build a business that prioritized speed and cost over health and safety. Instead, AlvaCleen Services is committed to health-conscious cleaning practices that protect not only our clients and cleaners but also their families and pets.
Beyond my experience in the cleaning industry, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various fields that have shaped how I run AlvaCleen Services. From working as a nurse tech and interpreter in hospitals to managing restaurants, hiring and overseeing cleaning staff for large companies, and even gaining hands-on experience in different departments of the filming industry, each role has given me valuable insights. I’ve learned the importance of sanitation, cross-contamination prevention, customer satisfaction, communication and strong management. But more than anything, these experiences reinforced the core values that guide me in everything I do—honesty, empathy, and respect.
